This tram runs along the Pest side of the Danube. Its main advantage is, that this particular line has the most spectacular panoramic view of both Danube banks. You will pass the major historical sites like the Parliament, Gresham Palace, Academy of Science, and Danube Promenade. From far afar you can also have a glimpse of Buda Castle Hill with Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion, Royal Palace, and Gellért Hill.
With this ride, you have a quick option to pass these landmarks but you will miss some other highlights. There are some hidden gems, which are impossible to see from the tram, like the Little Princess, Shoe on the Danube Memorial or the Great Market Hall. If you want to cover all of them above join our Free Budapest Tour.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: Once on board remember to validate your ticket! Public transportation in Budapest is excellent, but the controllers are strict. You should put your ticket into a little orange machine usually by the doors. Keep the ticket with you until the end of the journey. Ticket inspectors tend to work undercover, dressed as normal passengers. The penalty fine is 12,000 Huf.
