The church of Maria Magdalena was built in the 13th century. It was closed to the public for decades after World War II as the church was badly destroyed.
The Bell Tower which miraculously survived every siege was restored and opened as a museum in 2015. It is now utilized as a lookout tower with a spectacular panoramic view of Budapest.
If you feel fit enough, there are about 170 steps to climb. The 24 tower bells ring every hour and are truly melodious. The bronze replica of the 1000-year-old Hungarian coronation mantle in the church grounds is very interesting in the courtyard of the church. We pass by the church on our Free Buda Castle Tour.
