We love spring because the weather gets nicer after the cold winter, trees become greener and flowers start blooming, but there is another reason why we like this season: the Budapest Spring Festival.

Besides doing your Budapest sightseeing or any of our free walking tours it is a great choice to check out the 38 th annual Budapest Spring Festival (Budapesti Tavaszi Fesztivál in Hungarian) which kicks off on the 30 th of March in our capital city and it will offer about 200 events until the 22 nd of April.

Since its foundation in 1981 this festival is one of the biggest cultural happenings in Hungary and it is significant worldwide as well. The colourful programmes include classical music, opera, jazz, pop music, world music, dance, circus, theatre and fine art events and besides the most important and popular Hungarian artists, many great foreign artists will perform as well.

There will be more locations where events take place: the Palace or Arts, the Hungarian Music Academy, the Erkel theatre, the Pesti Vigadó (Concert hall of Pest), the Budapest Music Center, the National Uránia movie house, the Budapest Jazz club, the Akvarium club and many more theatres, museums and cultural institutes will host programmes.
