This tour takes you to the main sights and hidden symbols of the Jewish District. You will learn the deep and sensitive history based on touching (personal) stories. The Jewish District is now the epicenter of Budapest nightlife and gastronomy. That is another great reason to join, so your guide could tell you funky stories on street art and ruin bars.
We start at Elisabeth Square, next to the Ferris Wheel where we introduce you to the origins of our 7th District, the so-called Jewish District.
Then visit the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial. Here we talk about the heritage of the most important hero of the 2nd Word War.
We continue with a visit to the main entrance of the district, Madách square.
The next stop is the largest synagogue in Europe, the Dohány Street Synagogue. We walk around the building and check out the Tree of Life Memorial.
We continue our walk with an introduction to our local street art. Shortly after that, we reach the Rumbach Street Synagogue.
On our way to the center of the Hungarian orthodox community, the Kazinczy Street Synagogue, we cross the Gozsdu court, where you can find some of the best bars and restaurants in Budapest.
Finally, we finish the tour at the oldest ruin bar, in the Szimpla Garden, where we learn about these special places and your guide gives you further orientation and recommendations regarding this neighborhood.
